The Influence Behind Rod's Paintings
My artistic influences have been the Dutch Masters, the French Impressionists and some modern American Abstract Expressionists as well as Outdoor and Landscape Oil and Watercolor Artists of the last 80 years.
Most of these artists at some time in their careers were not afraid to "show the brush strokes" rather than adhere to a strict near-photographic realism.
First and Foremost, any Art should be pleasing to the eye (or the ear).
Of course, that determination is subjective, as we know "Beauty is in the Eye of the beholder."
It is my hope that you will find my paintings pleasing to your eyes, and be proud to hang one on your wall!
